We were totally psyched to learn that the Residences at Pacific City, a UDR development in Huntington Beach, California, won four Gold Nugget Grand Awards at PCBC, the largest homebuilding trade show representing the West Coast region.
The project is a highly amenitized 516-unit apartment community steps from the Ocean in Huntington Beach. Working with UDR, Red Propeller recommended positioning the Residences at Pacific City as “the ultimate beach living option for people seeking an authentic beach community living experience that embraces the character of Huntington Beach to its fullest extent.” We also provided a series of resident profiles, plus recommendations on units (mix, sizes, features and finishes), amenities and services.
The project won the Gold Nugget Grand Awards for multifamily community of the year, best recreational use facility – community amenity, best multifamily housing community – 30-60 DU/acre and best indoor/outdoor lifestyle for a community.
Regarding the community as a whole, judges wrote: “Simply put, this ‘beach-inspired’ project is outstanding! It’s richly layered into six residential apartment neighborhoods that wrap around a stunning community amenity of the ‘wave-inspired’ recreational buildings along the organizing ‘horseshoe loop.’ The judges found every aspect of this project to be thoughtfully planned and executed, including all the terrific circulation spaces between the beautifully designed buildings.”
Regarding best multifamily housing community – 30-60 DU/acre, judges wrote: “Design details explore a native coastal palette and texture and reach wow-factor intensity in the form of a recreational building structure inspired by crashing waves of the nearby Pacific Ocean. A curving pedestrian ‘boardwalk’ with a wide walkway connects all six courtyards out to the public sidewalk. Judges loved the walkable connections to the beach, abundant natural light and thoughtful orientation of each unit, providing both privacy and neighborhood scale.”
That’s just a sample of some of the comments from judges. We couldn’t agree more with their praise and are proud to have been a part of the project.
